Mr. Gonzalez was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx. His love for the arts and entertainment began at an early age, singing and dancing. As a young man, he began recording as a freestyle music artist, earning a reputation as the local latin pop sensation: Reinaldo. In 1988, he recorded his first hit, My Sweet Love. His follow up hit in 1989, Another Night, solidified his emerging popularity in the freestyle pop music scene. Additional songs included Do You Remember, Time After Time, Alone in the Night and You Are The One. Reinaldo performed at major clubs in both New York City and Miami, such as Club Casanova. In fact, at NYC’s Club Castle, a young Marc Anthony – now the top grossing latin male recording artist of all time (married to none other than Jennifer Lopez) – opened for him. He has recently participated in freestyle reunion concerts alongside Sapphire, Corina, Johnny O, Judy Torres, Company B and Taylor Dayne. As a business volunteer for BALLROOM BASIX™, Mr. Gonzalez will handle contracts and invoicing for all our participating schools both locally and regionally. This ensures that we are able to meet our expenses as a not–for–profit and thereby continue to grow, serving as many children as possible with the power of partner dancing. When Rei’s not working, he’s usually working out. Either that, or he is going out to dance merenegue, salsa or hustle! He is thrilled to be a part of a not–for–profit organization that brings such a special connection to young people.
